COMPARISON Odoo 19 Enterprise vs. Oracle NetSuite

Odoo 19 vs NetSuite

NetSuite pioneered cloud ERP, and its multi-entity financial consolidation is still a benchmark. But it is an American product designed for corporate groups: opaque pricing, an annual contract that goes up at renewal, modules billed à la carte, and a French localization that is still a work in progress.

Why French SMEs hesitate over NetSuite

Three realities of the Oracle model, seen firsthand by companies already on it.

The contract that goes up on its own

No public pricing: a negotiated base fee, user licenses, modules à la carte, all on an annual contract. The first-year discount disappears at renewal, and double-digit increases are not uncommon. You negotiate every year from a position of weakness: your data is already inside.

A piecemeal French localization

NetSuite is designed for US accounting. The FEC (France's mandatory tax audit file), French VAT, and e-invoicing go through localization bundles and SuiteTax configuration. It works, but every French requirement is a project, never a given.

A six-figure implementation project

Between the base platform, the modules, the integrator, and SuiteScript development, NetSuite projects routinely run to tens of thousands of euros before the system is even in use. For an SME, the entry ticket is out of proportion to the actual need.

The technical verdict

A visual comparison of out-of-the-box capabilities, without custom development or third-party modules.

Your questions, our answers

Questions from companies evaluating NetSuite, or putting up with it.

For an international group with many subsidiaries, the argument holds. For an SME, it does not.
OneWorld consolidation is a benchmark for groups with dozens of subsidiaries. But a French SME then pays top dollar for an architecture it uses only a fraction of. Odoo handles multi-company and consolidation out of the box, at the scale that applies to 95% of French businesses.

It is an ongoing project rather than a blocking problem.
FEC, VAT, mandatory legal information, e-invoicing: everything exists through bundles and configuration, but nothing is built in. Every French regulatory change depends on the pace of an American vendor and of your integrator. With Odoo, the French localization is maintained by the vendor, which is European and present in France.

Nobody knows before negotiating, and that is the heart of the model.
Monthly base fee, per-user licenses, modules à la carte, support tiers: everything is quote-based, with a first-year discount that disappears afterward. Renewal increases are the sore point customers mention most. Odoo's price list is public: it is a difference in philosophy as much as in price.

It is the best time to price an alternative.
A renewal negotiation goes better with a credible, fully costed plan B. We build the complete three-year comparison, migration included, before your renewal date. Either you leave with a solid case, or you stay with real negotiating leverage.

Yes, methodically, through exports and the API.
NetSuite lets you extract customers and vendors, items, transactions, and accounting history through saved searches and the API. We check the balances against your trial balances and migrate at a closing date. The point to watch is the SuiteScript scope: every customization is analyzed, and many of them match standard Odoo features.

Solid for groups of SMEs, below OneWorld for multinationals.
Multiple companies, currencies, automatic intercompany entries, consolidated reports: the needs of a French group with two to ten entities are covered out of the box. Statutory consolidation of fifty subsidiaries in twenty countries remains the territory of NetSuite or dedicated tools, and we will tell you if that is your situation.

Two different worlds: a six-figure project vs. an included app.
SuiteCommerce is powerful but expensive, slow to deploy, and rare in France, where you can count the integrators on one hand. The Odoo store is included, connected to inventory and accounting, and covers the vast majority of B2C and B2B needs. Companies that want Shopify on the front end can also connect it to Odoo.

For French teams, yes, every day.
Paid support tiers, documentation and training mostly in English, a partially translated interface: the hidden cost is the time your teams lose. Odoo is fully available in French, documentation included, and we answer in French, from Lyon.

Both vendors are solid. The lock-in is a different story.
Odoo is a profitable, fast-growing Belgian software vendor with millions of users. The real question is portability: with Odoo, you download your full database and host it wherever you want; with NetSuite, you get exports, and the annual contract does the rest.

Three to eight months, depending on the depth of the scope.
Accounting, sales, purchasing, inventory: three to five months. With SuiteBilling, a WMS, or manufacturing, allow more time. The timeline is aligned with your renewal date so you avoid paying for an extra year.

Yes, it is our standard method.
We load your items, customers and vendors, and a sample of transactions into a test database, and your teams run through their real scenarios. The decision is made on hard evidence, with the three-year cost comparison alongside.
