Odoo 19 vs Dynamics 365
This is the toughest competitor in this series: Business Central is a good ERP, well integrated into the Microsoft world. But every need beyond core business management is a separate product, billed on top: CRM, marketing, customer service, website, point of sale. Odoo includes them all in the same subscription.
Why compare before defaulting to Microsoft
Three blind spots in the “we're already on Microsoft” reflex.
An ERP split into paid products
Business Central covers core business management. Sales CRM is another Dynamics product, marketing yet another, customer service a fourth, each with its own per-user license. The real bill isn't the price of Business Central, it's the sum of the whole lineup.
Nothing happens without a partner
A field, a report, a rule: customization goes through extensions written in the AL language by a certified integrator. The smallest adjustment becomes a ticket with your partner, at their daily rate, and you're not their only client.
Commerce isn't in the box
No website, no online store, no point of sale: Microsoft points you to Shopify or add-ons like LS Central. For a business that sells online or in store, the “complete” ERP starts with yet another integration project.
The technical verdict
A visual comparison of out-of-the-box capabilities, with no custom development and no third-party modules.

8. What it really costs
For ten users who sell, manage inventory, manufacture, run marketing and handle support, here are the two real totals.
The Dynamics 365 lineup, assembled
Business Central alone does not cover this scope.
- Business Central Premium: €95.30 excl. VAT per user per month, annual commitment
- A single user who manufactures or handles after-sales service moves the WHOLE company to Premium
- Dynamics 365 Sales for CRM: billed per user, on top
- Customer Insights for marketing: entry price in the four figures per month
- Customer Service and Field Service: more per-user licenses
- LS Central POS, Continia extensions, Power BI, Power Automate on top
- Integration and AL customizations at the partner's rate
Odoo 19 Enterprise
The same scope, in a single product.
- CRM, sales, inventory, manufacturing, accounting, marketing, support included
- Website, eCommerce, POS and field service included
- Automations, AI and dashboards with no additional license
- Hosting and backups included on Odoo.sh
- Customizations in a few clicks by you, or by us, billed on actual time
Subscribe through a partner rather than directly
Hors du Commun, Odoo integrator in Lyon, is an official Odoo partner. Going through us costs you nothing more, and gives you three things a direct subscription does not.
A 60-day trial instead of 15
We extend your test database ourselves, so you can put the software through a real monthly cycle, month-end close included, instead of skimming through a demo.
3 to 10% off the license
On average, depending on your commitment. We know what to negotiate, and with whom at Odoo.
A free seat for your accountant
We work with accounting firms that are Odoo partners, or negotiate access for your current firm.

Your questions, our answers
Questions from teams already settled in the Microsoft world.
The Teams and Excel integration is real and pleasant. But it won't give you a CRM, marketing, an online store or a point of sale: each one is a Dynamics product or an add-on billed on top. Odoo works very well with Microsoft 365 for email and calendar, while including everything else.
BC's analytic dimensions are excellent, and French localization is serious on both sides. Odoo includes in the same subscription what BC charges for as extensions: AI bill recognition, bank sync, e-invoicing. For the same scope, it's a close match; for the same budget, it no longer is.
Business Central Essentials costs €69.30 excl. VAT per user per month, Premium €95.30. But sales CRM, marketing, customer service and field service are separate products, each with its own license. For a full scope, Microsoft's per-user bill comes to well over twice the Odoo subscription.
In Business Central, a field or a rule means an AL extension developed by your partner. In Odoo, the same request is usually handled through configuration or Studio, in hours rather than days. You keep an integrator for structural work, not for every tiny adjustment.
BC exposes its data through APIs and exports. We migrate customers and vendors, products, bills of materials, open balances and accounting history, and we check the balances against your trial balances. AL extensions are reviewed one by one: most of them match features already included in Odoo.
If your meetings live in Teams with shared BC records, or if your management runs everything in Power BI, those uses will have to go through Odoo's API or its built-in dashboards. That's the real point to assess honestly, and we look at it with you during the audit.
At Microsoft, manufacturing and service management require Premium at €95.30. And the rule is harsh: a user with an Essentials license cannot sign in to a company that uses the Premium experience. In other words, as soon as a single user needs to manufacture or handle after-sales service, the whole company moves to €95.30 per user, including the accountant who will never touch a manufacturing order. With Odoo, turning on manufacturing doesn't change anyone's price.
The official BC-Shopify connector works. You pay for Shopify on top, you manage two catalogs and two sets of promotion rules, and B2B remains limited. Odoo runs the store, B2B, inventory and accounting on a single database. We also build BC-Shopify setups for those who stay on BC, so we know how to compare the two.
Copilot keeps expanding in Business Central, and that's a real plus. Odoo, for its part, builds AI into invoice entry, writing, forecasting and support, with no additional license. Today, neither should be chosen on this criterion alone.
With Odoo, you can download the full PostgreSQL database and host it elsewhere, including with us. With Microsoft, you get exports and API access, but never the database itself, and every year the logic pushes you a little further toward the rest of the stack.
The timeline mostly depends on the number of AL extensions to review and on the scope beyond core management: marketing, support, eCommerce. The estimate is broken down by phase after the audit, with the cutover on a period-end date.
A test database with your products, your customers and vendors, and your scenarios, run by your own teams. The decision is made on hard evidence. If the verdict is to stay on Business Central, you still walk away with a useful audit.
