COMPARISON Odoo 19 Enterprise vs Sage 100

Odoo 19 vs Sage 100

Sage has served French SMEs for forty years, its accounting is a benchmark, and it is an approved platform (PA, France's certified e-invoicing platform). The real issue isn't what Sage can do, it's the price you pay to get it: CRM, customer service, point of sale, production, each building block is a separate product, with its own license and named users.

Why Sage users are looking elsewhere

Three things Sage 100 users notice as they grow.

One need, one product, one license

Accounting, Commercial Management, Fixed Assets, Payment Methods, Customer Service, Production Management, Sales Management, point of sale: each function is a separate Sage product, billed annually and often per named user. Nothing is missing, but everything adds up.

A modernization that doesn't reach everyone

In June 2026, Sage released a fully web-based interface, Experience Edition. It's a real step forward, but it is rolled out first to customers hosted by its partners, and the product sheets are still stamped “Windows compatible only.” Depending on your contract, you either have it or you're waiting.

The bill adds up product by product

Commercial Management starts at €64 per month excl. VAT, or €940 to €2,200 per year for the first user depending on the edition. Add accounting at the same entry price, fixed assets at €95 per month, customer service at €34, CRM at €32 or €45 per user, production, point of sale. That's where the comparison is decided, not on a list of missing features.

The technical verdict

A visual comparison of out-of-the-box capabilities, with no custom development or third-party modules.

Your questions, answered

Questions from business owners and CFOs who run Sage.

No, and that's less and less the case.
Accounting firms now routinely work with Odoo: dedicated access included, built-in FEC (France's standard accounting audit file), standard exports. Many appreciate receiving books already matched through bank synchronization rather than a batch of entries to re-key. We always set up a meeting with your firm before the switchover.

For day-to-day French accounting, yes, and it is better connected.
French chart of accounts, VAT, FEC, year-end tax return: both do the job. The difference lies around it: in Odoo, the sales invoice comes from the order, the journal entry comes from the invoice, bank statements come in on their own and e-invoicing is included. With Sage, each of these links is a module or a bridge.

It comes with you, balances and history included.
We migrate customers and suppliers, products, price lists, outstanding balances, and your accounting history to the depth you choose: opening balances, the current fiscal year, or several fiscal years. Every trial balance is checked against Sage before the switchover, which takes place on a closing date.

On this specific point, there is no reason to switch, and we say so.
Sage is registered as an approved platform and builds it into its software at no extra cost. Odoo has been one too since April 2026. It's a tie, and if compliance with the 2026 reform is your only concern, stay with Sage. The real question is a different one: how many separate Sage products does it take to cover your entire business, and what do they cost together compared with a single subscription?

The comparison isn't decided by the entry price, but by the number of products.
Commercial Management starts at €64 per month excl. VAT, which is reasonable. The issue is what you have to add: accounting, fixed assets at €95, payment methods at €27, customer service at €34, CRM at €32 or €45 per user, production, point of sale. In Odoo, these building blocks are in the same subscription. During the audit, we lay out both totals over three years, based on your actual scope and headcount.

We rebuild them better, usually through configuration.
Custom Sage printouts usually correspond to standard reports in Odoo: aged balances, statements, margin reports. Anything truly specific is rebuilt in the report editor or with light custom development. We list every printout, one by one, during the audit.

That's true, and we say so plainly.
Sage's French payroll is a benchmark. Odoo has a French payroll localization, but on this specific topic many of our clients prefer to keep their payroll software or their accounting firm, connected to Odoo for the journal entries. Both setups work, and nothing forces you to move everything over.

It's weaker, honestly, but it still holds.
Sage 100 Experience Edition, released in June 2026, is a true web interface with an AI assistant. Two caveats: rollout goes first to customers hosted by Sage partners, and the product sheets are still stamped “Windows compatible only.” Depending on your contract, you have access today or you're waiting. What doesn't change is the number of separate products behind the interface.

The question is what you get each year for what you pay.
If your annual contract mostly goes toward keeping what you already have running, the budget spent on maintenance can fund a platform that improves with every release. And the Odoo model is reversible: you own the database, and you can change integrators without changing software.

The Sage module is solid. It's one more product to buy.
Sage 100 Production Management handles routings, bills of materials, manufacturing orders, material requirements planning and finite capacity scheduling. So the comparison isn't about features, it's about cost: with Sage, it's an additional license; with Odoo, it's an app you turn on in your existing subscription. If your needs really call for Sage X3, which plays in a higher league, we'll tell you during the audit.

It's one of the best-charted migrations there is.
Sage data structures are well known and documented. A scope covering accounting and Commercial Management typically takes two to four months to migrate, with the switchover at a period close. We've made it our specialty, backed by repeatable data migration scripts.

Yes, on your real data.
We load your products, your customers and one fiscal year of accounting into a test database. Your teams run through a typical day: quote, order, delivery, invoice, payment, reconciliation. The decision comes afterward, based on hard evidence.

Let's discuss your project

Bring your Sage contract and your list of modules: we'll lay out a three-year cost comparison and a plan for migrating your history. The audit fee is deducted from the project cost.
